Adolf Böhm (1861-1927) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. He was a founding member of the Vienna Secession and made many contributions to its magazine, Ver Sacrum. He left the group in 1905 and helped found the Klosterneuburger Künstlerbund, whose membership included a young Egon Scheile. From 1910 to 1925 he was the professor of nudes and nature studies at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule.
