Audrey Kawasaki Japanese-American, b. 1982

Audrey Kawasaki is a Japanese-American painter whose work explores the quiet tension between innocence and eroticism, intimacy and distance. Raised in Los Angeles and influenced early by Japanese manga, she developed a distinctive visual language that merges the elegance of Art Nouveau with the emotional directness of contemporary illustration. After formative training at Mission Renaissance and two years at the Pratt Institute, Kawasaki chose an independent path, emerging in the early 2000s as a singular figurative voice devoted to line, craft, and sensual nuance. She has exhibited internationally since 2005 and currently lives and works between the United States and the United Kingdom.
