Marguerite de Bodinat French, 1864-1960

Marguerite de Bodinat came from a wealthy family, her father was a magistrate and president of the civil court. In addition, her father was also very creative and a deserving musician and painter. Encouraged by her father, Marguerite's talent was nurtured early with drawing and painting instruction. Her father died when she was 14 years old and from that time on she was raised by her uncle, a notable enameller. He introduced her to the art of enamelling and taught her the various  techniques. Marguerite was also an apprenticed to Jules Brateau and Verneuil.  Her husband, Anatole de Bodinat, encouraged her in her profession and helped her where he could, often hammering the brass into shape for her.

In 1905 she was introduced to the by her teacher Verneuil Parisian Salon des Artistes DÈcorateurs (SAD), where her work was exhibited many times.
